Rationale

In Thailand, research is a key indicator of quality assurance as prescribed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI), formerly known as the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC). As part of its policy framework, MHESI has established that academic and research studies related to Service to Society can be considered among the requirements for academic rank applications. Research and academic endeavors that yield tangible outcomes and demonstrable benefits in this domain play a vital role in advancing local community development. Impactful research can serve as a catalyst for positive transformation in various dimensions, including society, lifestyle, arts and culture, environment, occupation, economy, politics and governance, quality of life, and health. Additionally, research aimed at problem-solving or driving social progress further contributes to sustainable development.
This conference serves as a platform to enhance the engagement of academicians, lecturers, and researchers in conducting studies related to Service to Society. In this regard, Huachiew Chalermprakiet University’s role in hosting the 12th National and International Academic Conference is instrumental in fostering a robust academic environment. The conference is one of HCU’s mechanisms to promote research activities among lecturers and academicians on a continuous basis, encourage the production of high-quality research and the generation of new knowledge, advocate for a strong research culture among academicians, lecturers, and students, and facilitate academic exchange and collaboration among higher education institutions.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand-China diplomatic relations, this milestone presents an excellent opportunity to celebrate the enduring ties between the two nations. It also serves to further strengthen their relationship, founded on mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation across various dimensions.

In alignment with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the first segment of the conference is dedicated to reporting and discussing the SDG-related initiatives of co-hosting institutions, culminating in a keynote address.
